There were two vegetation fires in Tehama County on the 4th that were caused by irresponsible use of illegal fireworks. One was in the Richfield area and the other was in West Red Bluff, and both were quickly extinguished by Cal-Fire crews. Officials are warning people to secure their leftover fireworks to keep them out of the hands of children.
All types of fireworks are illegal in Shasta County, but Redding Fire Department confiscated many Pounds of fireworks, and responded to 15 fireworks related calls. One of them was on Monday, burning a half acre in the area of Collyer Drive and Twin Tower Drive.
In Siskiyou County, multiple agencies responded to the Shasta Vistas area for a fully involved residential structure fire that spread to about a half acre of brush. A quarter acre fire in Fort Jones was caused by fireworks. That’s on top of fires sparked by lightning Wednesday, including in the Montague and Grenada area. Forest Service crews are still chasing down small fires from the weekend lightning storms.
