Crews Extinguish Multiple Fires As Fire Season Begins To Wind Down

There were several fires over the weekend to serve as a reminder that the danger remains present.

— Several structures were threatened by a fire off Gaylord Avenue in Corning, which started around 3 O’clock Sunday. Evacuations were ordered, but were lifted before 4 O’clock. As of Sunday night that fire had burned 47 acres with 80% containment.

— A quarter acre of grasses burned off Hillview Drive in Palo Cedro at around 4 O’clock Sunday afternoon. It was apparently from an escaped burn pile.

— 5 acres of grass and Oak woodland burned off Hyampom Road in the Hayfork area around 5PM Sunday.

— 2.5 acres of grass burned at around Noon Sunday off Chase Avenue southwest of Corning.

— A structure fire was reported on Seaman Gulch Road off Highway 299 east of Bella Vista. It was apparently a 150 square foot outbuilding. The fire was already extinguished when crews arrived shortly after 3PM.

— Saturday afternoon a fire burned on Sprig Way off Millville Plains Road. Apparently a debris pile got away and burned up a small trailer
