Fire season has begun in Northern California and extreme caution is advised.
Friday afternoon there were multiple roadside spot fires along Highway 299 on the grade leading up to Buckhorn Summit.
Sunday morning about a quarter acre of vegetation burned off West Anderson Drive. A black smoke column was seen, apparently from some piles of trash.
There was a quarter acre fire off East Stillwater Way off Highway 299 east of Shasta College Sunday morning. Residents in the area had the fire mostly out when firefighters arrived.
The Sites Fire in Colusa County has not grown in several days and is now 48% contained.
