An escaped debris pile burn scorched about a quarter acre of timber off Fern Road in the Whitmore area Thursday afternoon. Thursday was a “No Burn” day.
A couple of acres of grass and brush burned off Cloverdale Road Thursday afternoon. Iit was also caused by a debris burn and a citation was issued.
Just before 2 O’clock Thursday afternoon a big rig caught fire on Southbound Interstate 5 at Deschutes. It started as an engine fire and soon engulfed the entire cab. The driver got out safely. As crews were finishing up on that fire, there was a multi-vehicle crash that may have been caused by drivers distracted by the truck fire.
