A vegetation fire broke out around 9:30AM Thursday morning on Majestic View Drive off Gas Point Road in Cottonwood. An aggressive response was dispatched and it was held to about a half acre of dry grasses and light brush.
The Park Fire is still 99% contained after burning 429,603 acres and 709 structures in Butte and Tehama Counties. Crews have been working in the increasing heat and humidity to repair damage done during fire suppression to protect downstream water purity and prevent erosion. A closure order remains in effect for parts of the Lassen National Forest. Anyone traveling in the fire zone should be aware of equipment moving around, particularly in the Highway 36 area.
The Boise Fire near Orleans in Humboldt County has burned 12,913 acres, now with 87% containment. A number of evacuation orders are still in effect.
The Bear Fire in Sierra County has burned 3,327 acres and is now 15% contained. Hundreds of residents of the Town of Loyalton remain evacuated from their homes.
