Crews Kept Busy Battling Numerous Fires On Thursday

With strong north winds and low humidity, the reality of fire season set in Thursday. Crews were able to extinguish a fire south of Olinda road and west of the Anderson Landfill off of Pinehurst Road. An aggressive response included 2 airtankers and a helicopter. Crews were able to stop the forward progress just before Noon at around 12 acres. A fire burned about a half acre off North Street just east of Interstate 5. It may have been sparked by a lawn mower. A roadside fire off Placer Road near Castle View was held to about a quarter acre. The Frank Fire started northwest of Red Bluff around 2 O’clock Thursday afternoon. Located in the area of Highway 36 and Frank Ball Road, the fire was 50% contained as of Thursday night after burning 32 acres. A pickup truck caught fire in a wooded area near Aramayo Way and Tehama Vina Road west of Los Molinos. Flames spread to surrounding trees and brush but Cal-Fire crews stopped it at less than an acre.
