Crews Kept Busy Tuesday Battling Several Small Fires

Various fires were kept small by various fire crews Tuesday.
— A little after Noon a Motorhome hauling a boat caught fire and sent up a lot of black smoke at the Interstate 5 exit to Shasta Dam Boulevard.
— A vegetation fire was held to less than an acre off Balls Ferry Road near Jim Dandy Lane in East Cottonwood. It was apparently started by a welder.
— A vegetation fire off Texas Street in Lewiston prompted a full wildland response, including aircraft, but it was held to less than an acre.
— Shortly after One O’clock Union Pacific stopped train traffic for a fire about 100 feet from the tracks that escaped a homeless camp at the end of Ironhorse Road off Pine Grove Avenue.
— At around 10 O’clock Tuesday night a travel trailer was fully engulfed in flames on Bush Street in Keswick. The fire spread to about an acre of brush and was threatening at least one home before being contained.
