Crews Nearing Full Containment On The Wonder Fire

Crews are in the final stages of work on the Wonder Fire in the Mountain Gate area, which is now 95% contained after burning 162 acres of thick brush and timber. The fire started Monday afternoon off Wonderland Boulevard near the Calaveras Cement Plant. It spread over the railroad tracks and up and over the hill toward Lake Shasta, prompting an evacuation warning for Bridge Bay. 100 personnel remain on scene working on mop up and reinforcing control lines in the steep and difficult terrain. All road closures have been lifted. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
