Crews Remove 15,000 Pounds Of Trash During Cleanup Effort

A number of areas, mostly near the Sacramento River, were cleaned up this week by the Redding Police and Parks Departments, with help from people doing work days for the Shasta County Sheriff’s Alternative Custody Program. Areas the team hit include Traveled Way off North Market, the North Bechelli Dog Park, Parkview Riverfront Park, and under the South Bonnyview Bridge. Prior to the cleanup days, Redding Police notified the homeless people living in those places that they would be forced out. They left a lot behind, though, as the crews came upon many abandoned camps. A total of 15,000 Pounds of stuff was hauled out, including 3,000 Pounds at Bonnyview alone.
