Crews Report Good Progress On Wildfire In Siskiyou & Humboldt Counties

While the Park Fire is far from being under control, crews are getting a handle on other fires around the North State.

A fire south of Willow Creek in the Mosquito Creek Drainage, burning in heavy timber in very steep terrain, has not grown in the past few days. The Hill Fire is 7,224 acres, now with containment of 77%. A couple of zones remain under evacuation in Humboldt County, but on the Trinity County side they’ve been reduced to warnings. A number of road closures remain in effect. There have been 5 injuries. More than 1100 personnel are still on scene.

The Shelly Fire in the Marble Mountains of Siskiyou County is 92% contained after burning 15,500 acres, though some areas on the interior continue to burn. 8 people have been injured. Only a few evacuation orders remain in effect.

Several fires in Plumas County north of Highway 70 being managed as the Gold Complex cover a total of more than 3,000 acres, now 98% contained.
