There was a spate of fires over the weekend, some amid red flag conditions.
The value of the damage is unknown from a fire at a storage facility Sunday night in North Redding. Fire crews responded shortly before 9 O’clock to Prestige Recreational Storage at the end of Prestige Way off Caterpillar Road. Three large units were well involved in fire that spread to consume the contents of the entire building.
A fire broke out shortly before Noon on Saturday off Commercial Way, which runs parallel with Interstate Five just south of the Northbound Bonneyview Offramp. It was contained at almost an acre.
Fire burned about a half acre of grass and brush off Dogwood Lane and Buckeye Terrace near Masonic Drive in North Redding very early Saturday morning.
A lightning fire started Saturday afternoon off Oak Run to Fern Road and burned about 2 acres of trees and brush.
A fire off Ridge Road and Eureka Way in West Redding burned less than an acre Saturday afternoon.
A fire started friday afternoon near the T/A Truck Stop on Knighton Road. Heavy winds carried embers across the freeway, starting several spot fires in the median and along Riverland Drive. It caused a lot of traffic backups on the freeway. A person was apparently taken into custody for starting the fire. A total of about one acre burned, in addition to the spots.
A fire Friday morning burned about an acre of grass and brush off Radio Lane near the Shasta County Breslauer Way Campus.
