A prescribed burn is planned for east of Redding Friday, and another one is planned further to the east Saturday. The Aldridge Vegetation Treatment Project is located off Ponderosa Way between Shingletown and Whitmore. If weather conditions are right Friday, Cal-Fire plans to torch 218 acres. A prescribed burn is planned for Lassen Volcanic National Park Saturday or Sunday. Park Service crews plan to torch a total of 135 acres in the northwest corner of the park near Manzanita Lake. Lassen Park has for many years been using prescribed fire to manage growth in a way that mimics a natural landscape that existed prior to modern forest management practices.
