DA Gives Lengthy Presentation To Shasta County Supervisors On Prosecutorial Process

An explanation by the Shasta County District Attorney about the prosecutorial process turned into a very lengthy topic of discussion during Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Chair Kevin Crye had asked that DA Stephanie Bridgett come to explain why a certain suspect was not in custody. Supervisor Patrick Jones began a line of questioning as if he was trying to ferret out corruption or favoritism on the part of the DA.

During Tuesday’s Shasta County Supervisors Meeting, Mary Rickert, who has returned from medical leave, asked that a future meeting address the apparent pre-election cover-up by Jones and Crye of a letter from the State Attorney General that cleared DA Stephanie Bridgett’s office of any questionable actions in the $50 Million PG&E Zogg Fire Settlement. However, Tim Garmin asked her to drop it out of concern for the families of the fatal fire victims.
