Dam Releases Cause Flooding Along Sacramento River

Recent rains and the anticipation of more has the Sacramento River at levels that are causing some problems downstream. The Bureau of Reclamation increased releases from 15,000 to 35,000 cubic feet per second in the past week. The top level release outflows on Shasta Dam have been opened for the first time since 2017. The lake is currently at 87% of capacity and the lake level has dropped a few feet, now at about 25 feet below the crest of the dam
