A woman from the Gerber area has been sentenced for murdering her mother. 45-year-old Dawn Marie Stanley had been the primary caregiver for her mother, 75-year-old Alice Stanley. On July 4th, Dawn was found on the street suffering from a head injury. She was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital, where staff contacted the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and asked that they check on the condition of Alice. She was fond in her home deceased. When deputies arrived at the hospital, Dawn immediately told them that she had killed her mother 5 days prior, saying she was driven by the stress of having to care for her. Charged with second degree murder, Dawn Stanley has been given a prison sentence of 15 years to life.
