A wanted man was caught Wednesday after being chased by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies. 39-year-old Derrick Wayne Horn had active warrants, including for evading with wanton disregard for safety. Horn was on supervision after being released from prison in May from convictions on drug and weapon charges. He was seen shortly before Noon Wednesday driving on Dersch Road near Clear View Drive, and a traffic stop was attempted. Horn reportedly led a high speed chase while crossing into the oncoming lane. After turning onto Millville Plains Road the car crashed into a ditch and started a fire in the dry weeds. Horn took off running through a field and was chased down by Kilo the K9. He was transported to a hospital before being booked into jail on several new charges. A female passenger was not injured. The fire was doused by deputies.
