Someone may have tried to “SWAT” the Ace Hardware in Shasta Lake City Wednesday. “Swatting” involves falsely reporting a crime in order to bring a large police response against a targeted victim. Just before 11AM Wednesday someone called 9-1-1 and said they were inside the Cascade Boulevard Hardware Store and that two men were there brandishing guns. The dispatcher heard someone in the background yelling to hang up the phone and the line disconnected. Multiple deputies were en route code 3 with CHP Air Ops responding as well when a dispatcher called Ace Hardware and was told that there was no incident at all.
