A suspect in three different bank robberies in three different cities has been arrested by Redding Police Detectives. The method was the same in each of the robberies. The suspect wore a full over-the-head mask of a bald old man, as well as a medical mask and sunglasses, making identification almost impossible. In each case the robber showed a note to a teller demanding money, but a weapon was never seen. He hit the Umpqua Bank on Churn Creek Road November 17th, the Tri-Counties Bank on Mangrove in Chico December 1st and the U.S. Bank on Main Street in Red Bluff last Monday. Detectives from the three cities merged their investigations and on Thursday a search warrant was served at the Redding home of 38-year-old Gregory Wise. Evidence was reportedly found, including the mask and some of the cash taken in the robberies. Wise has prior conviction involving weapons, theft and stalking, and had been released from parole on the day of the first robbery. He’s being held without bail.
