A local accountant who had announced his candidacy in October challenging Kevin Crye for the District One Shasta County Supervisor seat has now withdrawn from the race. Kurt Swanson was born and raised in Redding and has worked as Finance Director for Shasta Lake City and Senior Auditor for Anderson and Red Bluff. In a letter to the community, Swanson says he has too much happening in his life to be able to give 100% of his energy to the position of County Supervisor. The District One seat will be on the ballot in June.
