North State Giving Tuesday is almost two weeks away, but the giving has already begun. Administered by the Community Foundation of the North State, last year the effort collected a record of more than $1.6 Million from 6,355 individual donations to 177 non-profit organizations. This will be the eighth year for the event, officially held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which falls this year on December 2nd. In an effort to upstage Black Friday, Local Saturday and Cyber Monday, the Community Foundation fires up their website early. It’s now active at northstategives.org. This year there are 210 beneficiary organizations in Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Modoc and Trinity Counties. The Foundation is the Money Manager for many non-profit organizations, scholarships, foundations and causes, as they boast an extremely low overhead. The foundation has awarded over $65 Million in grants since 2000.
