Drainage Work Will Take Place On Highway 299 As Part Of Statewide Rehabilitation Effort

$16.3 Million Dollars has been allocated for emergency restoration work following the Park Fire. The work will address hazard tree removal, guardrails, drainage, and erosion control on State Routes 32, 36, 44, 89, and 172 in Tehama, Plumas, and Shasta Counties. The California Transportation Commission has allocated $830 Million statewide to improve transportation safety, access, and sustainability. Caltrans Director Tony Tavares emphasized the importance of these investments, saying they strengthen safety, promote equitable access, and support California’s economic engine by maintaining vital infrastructure. In Shasta County Caltrans District 2 will receive $1.17 Million for drainage rehabilitation on State Route 299, covering areas from Seamans Gulch Road to Fenders Ferry Road.
