A Shasta Lake City man is charged with murder and other charges for a crash that killed a Redding man in November. 78-year-old Jose Luis Zuno was killed on Hartnell Avenue when his Chevy pickup was struck by another Chevy pickup driven by 31-year-old Daveiontay Norwood. Zuno was pulling onto Hartnell from the driveway of a business a little east of Churn Creek Road when he was hit. Zuno was trapped in his pickup and unconscious. Redding fire personnel extricated him and he was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police determined that Norwood was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He also had a suspended driver’s license and was on probation for a previous DUI. Norwood’’s passenger fled on foot right after the crash. Norwood is charged with murder, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, possession of Cocaine and Methamphetamine and other charges. He’ll return top court in the new courthouse on March 26th.
