An East Redding donut shop is a story of resilience. At around 1 O’clock Tuesday afternoon an elderly man mistook his accelerator for his brake pedal and smashed through the front of the Donut Corner, located in a shopping center at Churn Creek and Hartnell. The Donut Corner serves mostly a morning clientele so they were already wrapping up for the day and there were no customers inside. The driver sustained minor injuries. The entire glass wall was destroyed in the collision, which would appear to be catastrophic to the business, but they haven’t missed a beat. Just a few hours later a plywood wall had been constructed to temporarily replace the windows and Wednesday morning the Donut Corner is open for business.
