Driver Fights With Offices After Crashing Pickup Into Red Bluff Inn

A driver plowed into a hotel in Red Bluff and caused major damage then fled the scene, according to police. Prior to the crash at 3:30PM Thursday afternoon, police say 25-year-old Ryker Kay of Hood River, Oregon had been in an altercation with a woman in the parking lot of the river park. He then allegedly got into his Chevy S-10 pickup, drove recklessly out of the parking lot and barreled across Main Street, losing control and smashing into the Red Bluff Inn. There was major damage to two buildings at the hotel and a 75-year-old man suffered minor injuries when the truck drove through his room. Police say Kay took off running and was found by officers several blocks to the north. He reportedly resisted arrest and fought with officers, kicking at least one of them. Max the K9 was unleashed on Kay and he was taken into custody. He was taken by ambulance to Saint Elizabeth Hospital to be treated for his injuries, then booked into jail. The injured hotel guest was also treated at the hospital.
