With Shasta County’s vote tally far from over, supporters of the Kevin Crye recall are not ready to declare victory. The count shows the votes in favor of the recall ahead by just 245. Statistically, it may not be a large enough sample to cover the margin of error. Each supervisorial district is approximately one fifth of the county total. Other still-close races include the second place challengers in District 3. Mary Rickert has 44% and if she does not have more than 50%, she’ll face either Corkey Harmon or Win Carpenter in November. They’re separated by just 26 votes. In District 4, Patrick Jones is very unlikely to overcome the lead by Matt Plummer, who so far has over 60% of the vote. The District Two race has four candidates but if Allen Long can maintain a majority he can avoid a runoff. He currently has over 55%. Measure C, for supervisor term limits, is highly unlikely to fail as it shows over 75%, but measure d to change Shasta to a charter county may still be up in the air as it leads by just 1,418 countywide votes.
