Elections Office Begins Testing Equipment Ahead Of March Primary

The public is invited to observe as the Shasta County Elections Department conducts a critical series of tests to assure the accuracy of the count. Preliminary logic and accuracy testing, or “pre-lat” has to be done prior to every election. Every piece of voting equipment that will be used March 5th is tested. A set of test ballots is run through the system to verify accuracy. The equipment is then secured with tamper-evident seals. The testing process will begin at One O’clock Wednesday. Information about observing can be found at elections.shastacounty.gov/election-observer.
