This Saturday is Public Lands Day, with entry fees waived at national parks and other federal lands. Volunteers are being recruited for a number of cleanup projects in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. One of them is centered at the Hirz Bay Boat Ramp in Lakehead from 8:30AM to 11AM. Volunteers should wear long pants and closed top shoes, and bring gloves and water. The project will focus on removal of Scotch Broom and other invasive weeds. In Trinity County it’ll be all about trash cleanup at Trinity Pines. Volunteers in long pants, long sleeves and sturdy boots should meet at 9AM at the intersection of Post Mountain Road and Rattlesnake Road. There are also cleanup operations at Weaverville, Black Butte Lake, and on the Pacific Crest Trail. Information on these and other projects can be found at neefusa.org.
