Escaped Debris Burn Spreads To 10 Acres Near Happy Valley On Wednesday

Fire crews battled a wind-driven blaze in the Happy Valley/Olinda area Wednesday. It started at around 9AM off Lassen Avenue west of Old Ranch Road and was being pushed to the south toward Mandella Way, the residents of which were ordered to evacuate. Cal-Fire and Happy Valley Fire responded aggressively with a lot of resources to halt the fire amid 30 mile an hour winds from the north. It was held to 10.5 acres. It was caused by an escaped debris burn.

A vegetation fire broke out near Jones Valley Wednesday afternoon. It was reported shortly before 2 O’clock in the area of Jay Bird Way off Bear Mountain Road. Forward progress was stopped a few minutes after the arrival of firefighters at less than 2 acres.
