Some observers have been taken aback by the political activities of Shasta County Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis. On Tuesday night his election campaign sponsored a rally at Win River Casino that pushed for the defeat of Proposition 50. Ballots for and against the ballot measure are currently being processed by the elections office that Curtis was appointed to manage. The Clerk and Registrar of Voters is a non-partisan office, and there’s no indication that Curtis’ participation in the partisan event was illegal, but some people are questioning the ethics of his involvement. Curtis is hoping to be voted into the office next June when he runs against former Assistant Registrar Joanne Francescut.
