Redding will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day on Monday with a series of events. It starts with a praise and prayer circle at the Shasta County Courthouse on Court Street at 10AM. From there, a sidewalk march will proceed to Sequoia Middle School. For convenience, people can park at Sequoia and take a free shuttle from there to the courthouse at 9:30AM so they can walk back. A bell ringing ceremony is at 11:30AM at Sequoia, followed by the M.L.K. Celebration Program and performances. Lunch will be provided at 1:30PM, and there will be some information booths and other activities until the program concludes at around 3PM. Everyone is encouraged to become familiar with Dr. King’s “six principles of non-violence”.
