Elder Abuse Awareness Month activities continue, with a health and resource fair Thursday from 10AM to 1PM off Locust Street in the parking lot of Orchard Nutrition. The “Purple City Festival” is Saturday from 5PM to 10PM at the Sundial Bridge, with exhibits, resources, food, prizes and a lot of entertainment. The D.A.’s Office food drive wraps up Friday, with a collection bin in their lobby. A flag planting ceremony to demonstrate the prevalence of elder abuse locally was at Anderson River Park Monday and another one is at Redding City Hall next Tuesday June 13th at 8:30AM. Next Thursday the 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, when everyone is encouraged to wear purple.A lot of information on this month’s activities can be found at shiningcare.org.
