Events Will Mark The 60th Anniversary Of President Kennedy’s Dedication Of Whiskeytown Dam

In November of 1963 the nation was shocked by the assassination of President John F Kennedy, but two months before that, September 28th, was a happy day as Kennedy dedicated Whiskeytown Dam. The 60th anniversary of that event will be celebrated this week at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Park rangers will have interpretive displays at the Kennedy Memorial next to the dam on Thursday from 10AM to 2PM. An online roundtable discussion is set for 7 O’clock Thursday night. Friday night at 7PM at Oak Bottom Amphitheater is a screening of archival footage of Kennedy’s visit. The celebration also includes patio boat tours and kayak tours.
