Falling Tree Causes PG&E Outage In Churn Creek Bottom

Most customers have been restored following an electrical outage in the Redding area Tuesday morning. A total of 1,459 PG&E customers lost power at 4:16AM when a tree fell into some power lines, bringing them down onto Churn Creek Road a little north of Green Acres in the Churn Creek Bottom area. A pickup truck then ran into the downed tree, though nobody was injured, and Churn Creek Road was blocked between Knighton and Rancho Roads. Cal-Fire is reported that a house fire in the same area was due to the downed power lines. Crews were unable to approach the scene as they waited for PG&E to de-energize the lines. The outages were split between East Redding and an area off Placer and Swasey.
