Farewell Avelo Airlines

Avelo Airlines final departure from Redding Regional Airport took off Monday morning with 120 passengers on board, but some local politicians weren’t ready to say goodbye. The decision by Avelo Airlines to end their flights between Redding and Burbank was due to an inability to retain ground services within their designated budget. Company officials say it was strictly a business decision. The Board of Supervisors has made a tentative offer of $100,000 to offset the costs of ground services. Monday Supervisor Chris Kelstrom and Redding City Councilman Mark Mezzano were at the airport gauging the reaction from passengers.
