FEMA Releases Preliminary Flood Maps For Shasta County

Preliminary flood maps for the City of Redding and unincorporated parts of Shasta County have been delivered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and they’re subject to public review. The maps identify flood hazards along Stillwater Creek and its tributaries down to the Sacramento River, and will be used by building officials, contractors, homeowners and insurance companies. There’s a 90 day appeal period until July 26th, during which changes may be suggested, as long as they include supporting technical or scientific data. The maps can be seen at fema.gov/preliminaryfloodhazarddata.
