Final Election Results Released By Registrar Of Voters Office

Election results for Shasta County have been finalized. The final turnout of nearly 55,000 ballots represented 48% of registered voters. Supervisor Kevin Crye will keep his district one position after defeating a recall attempt by a margin of 50 votes. In the crowded District Two race, Allen Long has won outright despite being in a competitive field of four candidates. He needed more than 50% to avoid a runoff in November, and he cleared that threshold by just 14 votes. His second place opponent, Laura Hobbs, has been a vocal critic of the process and was at Tuesdays press conference asking pointed questions about the recount process. District 3 Supervisor Mary Rickert will face Corkey Harmon in a November runoff after Harmon edged out Win Carpenter. Matt Plummer defeated District 4 Supervisor Patrick Jones by a 20 point margin. The Board of Supervisors will acknowledge the final tally at Tuesday’s meeting, but that’s merely a formality and is not necessary for certification.
