A fire in East Redding was quickly attacked by Redding Fire Department with air and ground support from Cal-Fire. Just before 4 O’clock Sunday afternoon a smoke column could be seen rising from the Clover Creek Preserve. The fire was directly threatening houses along Forest Hills Drive and it burned some of their backyard fences but other than that there was apparently no structural damage resulting from the vegetation fire. The forward progress was stopped by 5 O’clock, with a total area of about 9 acres of brush and grasses burned. The cause is under investigation.
