Fire Crews Extinguish Two Small Fires Over The Weekend

A vegetation fire in East Redding Sunday started in the area of a homeless camp, but the cause remains under investigation. Redding Fire Department responded a little after One O’clock to Old Oregon Trail near Airport Road on the south side of Highway 44. Due to being in the mutual threat zone, Cal-Fire also sent resources. It took about 10 minutes to gain control of the fire, which was contained at around 1-and-a-half acres.

The cause of a vegetation fire in an East Redding residential neighborhood is under investigation. Shortly after 2 O’clock Saturday afternoon Redding Fire Department was called to the area of Arizona Street and Cynthia Way. They found about a half acre burning in an open field behind houses. The fire was contained after burning about three-quarters of an acre and causing around $500 damage to a wooden fence.
