Thunderstorms started dozens of new fires over the weekend. There are several small fires still burning in remote areas of Northern Shasta County and to the north and west of Burney. There are also lightning sparked fires south of Mt. Shasta, in the Weed area, and several in the Klamath National Forest. A fire near Post Mountain in Trinity County has burned 3 acres. The Mammoth Fire which started Friday in Lava Beds National Monument has grown to more than 2,500 acres and is 42% contained.
