Redding Fire Department investigators have not determined the cause of a fire at a large industrial building near the Redding Regional Airport. At 3:44AM Friday morning crews were dispatched to 3707 Meadow View Drive, a 50,000 square foot building east of Airport Road. There was a delay in suppression efforts because of a difficulty in accessing the location and the distance to the nearest water supply. The building was not equipped with a fire suppression sprinkler system. Most of the damage was to a 10,000 square foot unit of the building, with two other units sustaining minor smoke damage. The fire was under control in 30 minutes and crews remained for about 5 hours for salvage and overhaul. Damage to the Million Dollar building is estimated at $150,000 and another $100,000 to the contents.
