A CAL FIRE project is underway that will improve fire safety along Dersch Road. Crews from Happy Valley Fire Center have been clearing and chipping brush and weeds as they scrape the ground between the edge of the pavement and the private fence lines. The first phase is the portion of Dersch Road that stretches from Millville Plains Road to Bear Creek. The upper phase of the project will be done next from Bear Creek to Highway 44. For the upper portion, one-way traffic control will be necessary at times. Work is being done 7 days a week when possible, and when crews are not busy on active fire calls.
