An illegal fire was extinguished by Redding Fire Department Saturday. Investigators say someone had been burning trash in a burn barrel off Alee Lane when burning materials escaped and lit the surrounding vegetation. An engine crew got there quickly and held the damage to a 20 by 20 foot area. Burn barrels are never legal in Redding and all burning is banned as of Sunday afternoon.
