The 21,058 acre Butler Fire in the Six Rivers National Forest is 50% contained, but the western edge is unsecured and is extremely difficult to access. Around other edges of the perimeter crews made progress in clearing debris that’s been rolling onto roadways. A warming and drying trend is making fire activity more erratic. Incident managers have relied on cultural resource advisors for direction concerning land use history and cultural sites.
