Flash Flood Watch Issued For Park Fire Burn Scar

The Park Fire containment continues to improve but changes in the weather could have both good and bad effects. The fire is 61% contained after burning 429,460 acres. 637 structures have been confirmed destroyed. There have still been no fatalities or injuries. There are no longer any evacuation orders or warnings. Roads have all reopened, though stretches of Highways 32, 36 and 172 are subject to one-way traffic control. Cal-Trans and Cal-Fire are working on restoration, including hazard tree removal, guardrail repair, erosion control and sign replacement. There are more than 3,400 personnel still on scene. Rain in the forecast will help douse the remaining hot spots, but lightning could bring new starts. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the Park Fire burn area for Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
