Forest Service Declares 100% Containment On The Show Fire

Fall rains, combined with cooler temperatures have finally dealt the Shoe Fire it’s death blow. The Forest Service declare 100 percent containment on Saturday. Crews are still patrolling the perimeter of the fire to ensure that any smoldering remains within containment lines. Heavy equipment will be in the fire area for cleaning up of hazards and repair work. Road crews are also working on repair. There is still a forest closure in effect. The Shoe Fire began on October 9th and burned 5124 acres. A private landowner is facing federal charges for starting the Shoe Fire.
