A free community event in Redding will feature a former DEA agent discussing Fentanyl. Overdose of the highly concentrated narcotic has been declared the number one cause of death for all Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. Former DEA agent Rocky Herron travels around the country speaking to young people to discourage them from doing drugs. When he was here last year he drew a great response from a packed Redding Civic Auditorium that included more than 1,500 eighth graders. He’ll return next week for various appearances, including two sold-out presentations at the Cascade Theater, several high schools, juvenile court school and more. Anyone who would like to see him talk can sign up for a free event at the County Office of Education’s Professional Development Center on Innsbruck Drive. It’ll be next Thursday from 5:30PM to 7PM. It’s free but seating is limited. Registration can be done through shastacoe.org.
