A former Trinity County Jail Guard has been arrested on child pornography charges after a 6 month investigation. In August of last year the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office got an Internet Crimes Against Children report that child pornography was being shared in Trinity County. The report was vague and there was no suspicion that it involved someone from within the Sheriff’s Department until an investigation narrowed in on 23-year-old Christopher Kirby, who was working at the time as a Trinity County Correctional Deputy. He was placed on leave and a search warrant was served at his home, leading to the seizure of several computer components. With help from the FBI, forensic searches of the devices led to a warrant issued for Kirby’s arrest last Friday. He was arrested and transported to a jail outside of Trinity County.
