There are two opportunities this weekend for Shasta County residents to get rid of old tires for free. The Shasta County Department of Resource Management will host two free waste tire collection events. The old tires will be put to good use to make running tracks, synthetic turf, accessibility ramps, rubberized asphalt, landscape covering, playground surfaces, roofing and more. Up to 9 tires are accepted at no cost or up to 20 with an authorization letter, available by calling 225-5789. No truck tires, equipment tires or off road tires, but unlike previous events, tires on rims will be accepted. One collection will be done Saturday (6/24) at the Anderson VFW Post and the other will be Sunday at Bella Vista Elementary School. Both will be held from 9AM to 2PM, and they’re open to all Shasta County residents.
