Shasta County residents can haul their household hazardous waste to Shasta Lake City on Saturday. The Department of Resource Management is hosting a free collection event. They’ll accept oil, antifreeze, batteries, cleaners, pool chemicals, aerosols, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, paint, pesticides, syringes and needles, TVs, computer monitors, VCRs, printers, cell phones, radios, and just about anything else that’s not explosive, radioactive, or biohazardous. They also won’t take everyday trash, tires, yard waste or bulky items like furniture. The collection is this Saturday from 9AM to 1PM at the end of Shasta Gateway Drive off Ashby Road. The best way to get there is from Pine Grove Avenue as the Veterans Day Parade will be happening. More details are at recycle@co.shasta.ca.us.
