Many Redding Firefighters who have died over the last 127 years were not recognized as service-related deaths from smoke and fume exposure until years later. Then there were the undoubtable deaths, such as that of Jeremy Stoke during the Carr Fire. All of them will be honored with a monument planned for Fire Station Number 8. The people raising the funds for the monument figure everybody in Redding owes something to the memory of those heroes, so $8 is not too much to ask. A campaign is underway to collect enough $8 donations to fully fund the project. This Saturday the effort kicks off with a party at Station 8. It’ll include $8 meals from All-Around Barbecue and drinks from Dutch Bros. Tours will be given of the station as well. The “8 For Eight” fundraiser event is this Saturday from 8AM to 11AM.
